1863 Production Military Model .44 Caliber Colt Army Revolver

This is an original Civil War .44 caliber Colt revolver. These guns are better known to collectors as the Civil War "Army model revolver. They were a weapon of choice for most branches of the service during the War. This one has serial numbers of 132009 on all parts. The Colt Company kept good bookwork so we know that this serial number would have been made in the middle of 1863. Across the top of the barrel is the Samuel Colt makers mark along with the New York City office location. These guns were produced in the factory at Hartford, Connecticut with the sales office being in New York City. The action of the gun works on the positions. On the side of the frame you can still see the "COLTS PATENTÂ mark. On the handle of the gun it has a set of original 1-piece walnut grip is present with a well worn look. On several of the parts you can see the single letter inspector initials and these let us know that the gun was inspected and approved for use by the USA military and isn't a civilian purchased gun.
